Wednesday 7th August – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington – sunny periods.

Foil – 19.71 knot max , 18.19 knot ave, 8.62 knot hour, 15.58 knot mile, 41.99 km., 14.30 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Severne 1000 with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

With the wind offshore to start with today it was a trip over to Levington Marina to make the most of the 2.30 high tide. I had time to do my exercises in the garden before heading off at 11 stopping just short of the marina to take some pics of a couple of fields of sunflowers:) I was first to arrive and with the wind gusting to 20 knots it looked like a good test for my borrowed Severne 1000 foil and to be honest there is very little difference to my Starboard freeride foil in terms of speed and sailing. I was on the water quite awhile before I was joined by two more foilers and a couple of wingers. When I first went out I thought I had rigged too big with 6.5 but things calmed down and it became fairly gusty, typical of Levington! I did manage a couple of long runs down to the docks but patchy conditions made me head up the river but it was slow going getting there in the up and down wind! Gybing was not too bad but I did hook into my harness a couple of time half way round and ended up in the water with my sail on top of me! I had a few good runs back to the marina as the wind picked up but it was short lived so time to call it a day, so definitely better than my last two sessions but still not the best and we have two more days of wind!
